610 Snapdragon and 615 for smartphones 64-bit Announced

Qualcomm has benefited from MWC 2014 announced two new 64-bit compatible mobile SoC. We must therefore expect to see a new generation tumble Android smartphone with 64-bit processor this year.

Qualcomm has unveiled two new mobile Snapdragon SoC with 610 and 615. Like the Snapdragon SoC 410, these two chips integrate a compatible processor with instruction set ARMv8 ARM (for 64-bit ARM architecture so) but also backwards compatible with the ARMv7 instruction set (ARM architectures 32 bits).

Snapdragon 610 incorporates a quad-core processor while the Snapdragon 615 stands with 8 cores. Qualcomm to clarify that it is the first mobile SoC both 64-bit octal-core and LTE-compatible.

Because these two chips are actually compatible with the 4G LTE through their integrated modem (for category 4 with a theoretical maximum downlink speed of 150 Mb / s).

Both chips also include a new graphics processor with Adreno 405, a better performance than the Adreno 330 GPU Snapdragon 800.

They also support the 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, the HEVC/H.265 and the definition Quad HD codec (2560 by 1600 pixels).

If they succeed in Snapdragon 600, they are also more comprehensive than the Snapdragon 800 (the current standard for mobile SoC). Remains whether they will be as effective as the Merrifield chips (with Atom Z3480) and Moorefield (for the second half of 2014) Intel has unveiled. Both SoC Intel x86 processor are also 64-bit compatible.

Still, with these new chips, new ultra powerful smartphones and tablets expected to be released in 2014.

Snapdragon chips 610 and 615 come into production in the third quarter of this year and will be present in mobile devices in the last quarter 2014.
