InstaTake allowed to download in one click all the pictures published by Instagram account. It was forced to close.
Example scenario: you're a fan of Nicki Minaj and would like to download all the photos she uploaded to her Instagram account - or at least the most recent (right?).
Forget the screenshots. There is a smarter way to perform this operation. You just go on InstaTake site, enter the account name you are targeting (anyone, including yourself) and click on "Take! ".
The bad news is that this web application is no longer active. On the page, the developer explains:
InstaTake has been available for only a few hours. However, it decided to leave the code available on GitHub , which means that anyone can still competent enough InstaTake test by running the code on a PC (no server required).
We do not know exactly what happened. But according to our colleagues at The Next Web, InstaTake site allowed to download photos of any Instagram account (with a limit of 300 photos) from the time they are public. And the developer would have even considered lifting the limit of 300 photos.
On our side, we understand quite easily why the InstaTake features did not enjoy Instagram. Imagine the number of albums "[Name of a girl]" that could have been downloaded by users, as well as the controversy that would have been generated.
This event is also there to warn us that many of us publish personal content for the public on social networks, without realizing that they are accessible to anyone.
