While last year was a surprise by announcing Google Android KitKat, it seems that Google returns to its roots with the name of a simple candy (or dessert). If Android Lollipop seems to hold the rope for a while, Lemon Meringue was also a possible candidate to succeed KitKat.
Today, a new rumor suggests that Android will be named The Licorice (Licorice) . Relayed by Phone Arena, this information comes directly from Giovanni Calabrese, the guy who is the creative brain behind the famous sculptures of various Google OS on campus Mountain View (you know, the ones that are on the front lawn of the Googleplex).
Calabrese stated: "I never had a great liking for Licorice, damn goal! There are Some Great flavors out there !!! " , which can be literally translated into the fact that he never really liked the licorice, but then, this fragrance has a great flavor. Note that "Licorice" has a capital L, which could imply that he speaks of a statue that comes to design ...
He then said he will be at the Google headquarters all week, Monday through Thursday to work on #googlelawnsculptures. And more recently, he posted: "What's with all the boxes of licorice? #thingstheTSAsays #googlebound #googlelawnsculptures " .
In other words, this seems to be a pretty clear indication that Licorice is actually the name that Google has chosen for its mobile OS future - unless Giovanni decided to cover their tracks.
Anyway, we might have the answer very quickly on the name Google chose for Android L, starting this Wednesday . Indeed, on October 15 is a potential date to finally see the Nexus 6, which will highlight the new operating system - like the Nexus 9.
