Qualcomm Mobile Development Platform Smartphone is a device with a screen of 6.17 inches and running Android 5.0 Lollipop aimed primarily at developers . It is neither more nor less than a showcase for the Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor that will make its appearance in the best smartphones of 2015 .
The chip 810 is built on a 20nm architecture with two sets of four Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A53 cores. Qualcomm claims that the cores are 50% more powerful than those found in the Snapdragon 805 that carries the sweet name of Krait 450. The chipmaker also highlights the effectiveness of similar power at 805 Snapdragon.
Meanwhile, the Adreno 430 graphics chip is about 30% faster than the Adreno 420 Snapdragon chip 805. It will be capacity to handle 4K video at 30 fps, and 1080p video encoding and 120fps Similarly, can produce a 4K content to an external display via HDMI.
A "ordiphone" for next year?
In addition to these specifications, the Mobile Development Platform Qualcomm can boast to have 4GB of RAM, thus opening the door to very swift smartphones next year.
The 6.17-inch display has a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, and the smartphone is loaded with all the necessary sensors. This includes a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, pressure, temperature and humidity and the UV probe and the sensor Mobeam. The latter is used to scan bar codes. Oh, and there is a fingerprint sensor also.
Similarly, it also has a USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and a battery of 3020 mAh.
The Mobile Development Platform will be available for purchase directly from Qualcomm site next month . Although this is a smartphone for developers, it is likely that we will not have to wait too long until the first mobile with a Snapdragon 810 begin to appear on the market for the general public. There are chances of integration at the CES in January, or at MWC next March.
