Nokia N1: the first Android tablet expected 7 January 2015

Nokia announced its first Android tablet last month - the Nokia N1. As a reminder, this tablet is the first mobile product of the company after Microsoft acquired its mobile business earlier this year. As part of the agreement with Microsoft, Nokia can not manufacture a mobile device before 2016, so that the N1 will be manufactured by Foxconn. Last month, the company shared details on the device, but gave no firm date on the launch of the device. Finally, Nokia has shared details about the launch of the device for the Chinese market on its official Weibo account.

The company plans to launch the N1 tablet on the Chinese market on January 7 at the price of 1,499 yuan (about 200 euros) . Nokia also launched a contest where participants have a chance to win 800 tablets, and 6 VIP passes to attend the launch of the N1 event on 7 January. The event is scheduled to begin at 13h local time in Beijing Shangri-La.

While we may be additional information on the tablet at the event, know that Nokia N1 has a 7.9-inch IPS display with a resolution 2048 x 1536 pixels, a pixel density of 324 ppi. In addition, the screen comes with a glass Gorilla Glass 3, ensuring maximum protection. The tablet is powered by the 64-bit processor from Intel, the Atom Z3580, which is a quad-core chip clocked at 2.3 GHz, coupled with a powerful graphics chip PowerVR G6430. The device embeds 2GB of RAM, and offers 32 GB storage space. An 8-megapixel rear camera is embedded on the back cover, while the front camera of 5 megapixels is capable of capturing 1080p video resolution . The tablet is an impressive racing machine in the multimedia sector, thanks to its dual stereo speakers and the integration of a high-definition audio codec WM8958E Wolfson. Finally, under the hood include a lithium polymer battery 5300 mAh, which should provide a decent battery to the unit. It runs on the mobile operating system Android 5.0 Lollipop and also manages its launcher, called Z Launcher, natively.

It also comes with excellent options in terms of connectivity. Wi-Fi we will find 802.11a / b / g / n / ac MIMO dual-band, Bluetooth 4.0. It is also one of the first mobile devices to feature a micro-USB Type-C connector.

The tablet's dimensions are 200.7 x 138.8 x 6.9 mm and weighs 318 grams. Even if the device is not manufactured by Nokia itself, the device's build quality should be very impressive, since we will find a single piece of aluminum monocoque with anodized surface .

The device should be available in other markets a few weeks after its release in China. The details are not yet available, but we expect it to be available in the shops for the first quarter of next year.
