Android 5.0 Lollipop supplies less than 0.1% of Android devices

Android Lollipop is one of the most important releases of Google . She brought a complete overhaul of Android, which was long overdue. It also provided an avalanche of new features, among which we find an improvement over the lifetime of a battery. But, even with the effort that Google has in its latest mobile operating system, it did not find many takers in the market.

According to data published by Google, Lollipop runs on less than 0.1% of Android devices. Android 4.4.4 Kitkat is itself on a growth trajectory , since the operating system now runs on 39.1% devices. This version represented 33.9% in December. In other words, it increased by 5.2% in just over a month. One of the main reasons could be the boost the number of devices cheap running Android Kitkat.

The version that still leads the forefront of Android market share is still Jelly Bean. This version, bringing together under the same name the 4.1.x versions 4.2.x and 4.3.x, published in 2012, is the most commonly used for the Android ecosystem name. The good news, perhaps Google is the share of versions before Jelly Bean soon disappear from the market. Compared to June of last year, the combined influence of operating systems before Jelly Bean (Froyo, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich) increased from 35.2% to 14.9%. One of the greatest headache for Google was the massive segmentation Android on the market, and it seems that Kitkat and Jelly Bean are trying to bridge that gap . Google has also launched a range of "One Android" devices at low cost, in order to have more control over its operating system in a market increasingly popular.

The launch of Lollipop was followed by several bug reports, and that initially deterred users to switch to the new operating system. The slow deployment process can also be blamed for the low share of the new operating system. Previous versions of Android, as KitKat, also faces a slow start, managing to gain market share in the future. We can therefore expect a growth spurt for Android Lollipop soon.
