CES 2015: Amplicity, a new kind of modular PC

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, many manufacturers exhibited their latest innovations. As relayed CNET, Amplicity is a new type of computer startup designed by The Hive , which aims to capitalize on some of the latest trends in the PC era: tiny computers, modular devices, and software as a service (SaaS).

Here's the idea: Amplicity is a modular Pocket PC. Insert it into a dock, and it becomes a desktop computer in itself. You can use the system by paying $ 99 every 6 months , and you can put upgrade it to a newer model or return the device and cancel your subscription, or make other changes when your "contract" is completed.

Aside from the ability to always have the latest components, why would you hire a PC instead of just buying it? Because it also comes complete system. The company plans to ship devices with Windows, Office and Adobe preloaded. Customers also get 1TB of storage in the cloud.

There will be at least two versions of the device at launch. Anywhere Amplicity will have an Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and a small SSD. This is the version that will cost $ 99 for each half-year. A more powerful version with an Intel Core M processor which is simply named Amplicity will sell between 300 and 400 dollars.

Small computer modules will allow you to add batteries to your device has an excellent battery if you remove it from the dock.
