Microsoft has made a big splash in the cloud storage industry by opening OneDrive to an even broader community of developers with a new API that can be used to integrate storage service in the cloud in applications on all major platforms.
This addition means that developers will be able to integrate into their applications OneDrive to store and manage data, whether on Windows, the Web, Android or iOS. Any abstraction is done through the new RESTful API .
Other features included in the update is the ability to recover the new changes of files and folders in order to effectively keep a large number of synchronized files, adding files fragments up to 10 GB, or customization thumbnails of files for easy experience within your application and OneDrive.

If previously developers had to use the SDK to integrate the firm OneDrive in their applications, Microsoft encourages developers to use the new API because of its new features.

Storage on the cloud is a pillar of Microsoft's expansion strategy, although this API is somewhat unexpected, it is not surprising. Most other large storage cloud solutions have something similar, so OneDrive gradually catching competition.
