The latest version of Firefox offers a glimpse of the world without Flash

Yes, another service removing support for Adobe Flash is added to a list that swells more. In fact, Mozilla has just started to apply a tool called Shumway, in its Firefox browser that allows sites to run Flash videos without the need for plug-in .

Although the days of the Adobe Flash technology are already counted before Shumway is included as part of the last build nightly Firefox, this is another massive blow for a technology that dates back to 1996, and has become one of the most popular methods for adding animation and interactivity to web page. Although Shumway currently works for Amazon products videos on Windows and OS X, it is expected that it goes further in its possibilities for the future.

So far, 2015 has not been kind with Flash, since YouTube is by far the largest customer to deliver video with aging technology, has given a potentially fatal blow to it that there a little more than two weeks, opting for the use of the HTML 5 standard for all the videos on the site. However, if it is not supported by the user's browser, Flash is still used.

Flash still has its place
Since Apple decided that Flash technology had no place on its mobile iOS devices - a willingness issued by Steve Jobs at the time, there has been a strong push to HTML 5. But popular browsers, such as Google Chrome, still maintain an integrated version of Flash.

Adobe Flash may seem a nonexistent service these days, but there is still a lot of Flash games, animations and video players that rely on Adobe's service to work. Flash always have its place on the web for some time , if only by the sheer volume of sites built on this technology and the fact that the plug-ins, like the one that was built for Internet Explorer in Windows, regularly opened several backdoors, resulting complex situation for its removal.
