Acer launches Chromebox with Core i3 chip Haswell

Chrome OS is a bit limited, but the OS is functional for many users. You have a lot of people doing everything on the Web these days, making a Chromebook or Chromebox a smart choice for articulated around a computer browser. Unfortunately, Chome OS has also become synonymous with cheap devices and offering low specifications.
This is partly due to the misunderstanding that the operating system is not just a browser. The Google OS is a complete Linux distribution, running a browser, and needing a decent power.

Acer expands its range of Chromebox desktop -based desktop operating system from Google, Chrome OS. There are a few months, the company began offering models with Intel Celeron processors for $ 180 and up. Today, Acer launches models with an Intel Core i3 processor based on the Haswell architecture, priced at $ 350 and up.

The new Acer Chromebox CXI-i34KGM has a double-core processor Intel Core i3-4030U, 4GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This model will be priced at $ 350. There is also an Acer Chromebox XXI-i38KGM with 8 GB of RAM and a price of $ 400.

Both models feature a Wi-fi connectivity 802.11a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, a Gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 3.0 ports (two of which can charge a smartphone or tablet, even when the Chromebox is off), a micro-SD card slot, and HDMI output with support for 4K screens.

As most Chromeboxes, Acer CXI is a compact PC with a frame which measures 17.27 x 13.97 x 5.84 cm.

Acer is not the only company to offer a desktop Chrome OS with a Core i3 Haswell processor. Dell and Asus also have models with similar chips . But Acer is one of the first companies to market a model with 8GB of RAM.

Although it will probably be a good machine for traditional Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu and Fedora, it's probably best to stick with Chrome OS. After all, the most open Linux machines are already available, and if you want a small form factor, alternatives also exist.
