For the first time in years, a giant of Cupertino component - in our case, the remote control Apple TV - can happen in a new incarnation is larger than its predecessor. Of course, there is a good reason for this. Its large size is needed to accommodate a trackpad ( touchpad ).

Previous versions of Apple TV used a remote control that we know very well: buttons and a directional pad to navigate through the interface. While there will always be two physical buttons on it, the touchpad will be used for navigation, said the New York Times an Apple employee who wished to remain anonymous. The remote control will be roughly the same size as the remote control of the Amazon Echo, the source said.

The touchpad allow users to interact with the Apple TV as if they were on a computer or smartphone.

Changes under the hood
This additional information comes after getting interesting details about the new hardware. While the new Apple TV will obviously receive hardware upgrades - a variant of the A8 chip Apple is mentioned, additional rumors suggest that it will add a new voice command feature that will use Siri, and a support for its own App Store for third-party applications.

In addition to these new features, Apple could leverage a new business model for its set-top box . For months we heard that Apple was working on a web-TV service. The service is also rumored to cost around 30 or 40 dollars a month.

While most of the buzz surrounding the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will be centered around iOS and OS X, it is also expected that a revision of Beats Music and a new version of Apple TV are revealed during the event.

The conference will take place from June 8 to 12, and as in previous years, it will be held at the Moscone Center West entrance.
