Apple unveiled a selection of new PCs and new accessories, highlighted by the Retina display pushed into more iMac. For the first time, the 21.5-inch iMac will feature a Retina display 4K, coupled with an Intel Core chip 5th generation, and a graphics chip Intel Pro Iris Graphics. This new model is sold 1699 euros, but non-Retina alternatives are yet available from 1249 euros.

Meanwhile, the 27-inch iMac will now be equipped with a 5K Retina display with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels. Apple does not hesitate to describe this device as having "the world's highest resolution in a screen of an all-in-one device", referencing the fact that it has seven times more pixels than traditional HD display . Prices for 27-inch device start at 2099 euros and 2599 euros to climb.
That's a huge price drop. Before today, Mac fans had to spend at least 2299 euros for a 27-inch iMac with Retina display. Apple has managed to lower the price by replacing its Fusion Drive (SSD cache which combines with mechanical storage) with a mechanical hard drive 1 TB standard. Specifications are also the same as the iMac 27 inches 5K 2099 euros.
All iMac models now feature two Thunderbolt ports 2. Both models are also able to use the Apple Fusion Drive technology, which combines a very fast flash storage to a high capacity hard drive. Applications, documents, photos and other files you use often reside on the flash storage, while less useful everyday items are transferred to the hard drive.
New accessories
Apple also announced some new accessories to complete the updates to the iMac. The new Magic Keyboard makes full use of the company scissor mechanism, but it is housed inside a frame much smaller than previous iterations. Apple says it will increase by 33% keys stability and facilitate the transition from one key to another.
The Magic Mouse 2 is itself lighter and more robust, while the Magic Trackpad 2 has a surface area 29% larger than its predecessor, but features the Touch Force technology. The Magic Keyboard will retail for 119 euros. The Magic Mouse 2 is in turn sold 89 euros, and the Magic Trackpad is sold 2 149 euros. Last week, speculation about these new accessories have been revealed after the references found in the source code for OS X 10.11.1 beta. As expected, these three Apple accessories feature a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery so you do not use disposable batteries.
All products are available starting today from the Apple online store, shops, and its authorized resellers.
