The patent, first spotted by Patently Mobile, shows some of the key features that have the ring, such as the ability to control smartphones, TVs, and all connected products. In the patent filing, Samsung displays a context menu where users can control the devices and services from their finger.
We do not know much about the design of the ring connected, if not the patent shows a rotating ring, similar to the S2 Gear, to access the menu options. Instead of having multiple remote controls for products, the ring would be able to control a wide variety of connected devices.
Samsung may impose his ring?
Samsung is not the first manufacturer to test the concept of smart ring. Apple and Microsoft have each sent themselves of patent applications at the USPTO. The major difference with the connected ring Samsung, is that it can connect to Facebook and other social networks, open a window and connect to various services, instead of only control products.
A connected ring could become increasingly valuable as we move into a more connected world. While we find hundreds of connected products on the market, have a simple and elegant solution to finger could be interesting.
Some small businesses have already tried this approach, with mixed success. However, after Samsung's success in the world of smartwatches with Gear S2, the Korean company may be able to apply the same design to ring.
