Tumblr provides support for Live Photos

Tumblr has released an update to its iOS app that introduces two major new features: the ability to share Live Photos from Tumblr and inclusion of 3D Touch technology.

This is the first time a major social network integrates Live Photos, a feature only available on the iPhone and the iPhone 6s 6s More at present, reports 9to5Mac. Other features provided by the update, these include direct mail, which was initially implemented in a select group of users last month.

This is a positive indication that a major social network Apple embeds the functionality Live Photos, and can pave the way for further integration with third parties. Currently, Live Pictures can only be shared by Apple applications, among which include iMessage, iCloud or AirDrop.

For those who do not have a 6s iPhone or iPhone 6s Plus, a Live Photo underlies a picture of 12 megapixels, the difference that it also captures the moments before and after the shooting, and added to it sound and movement (precisely 1.5 seconds). Apple itself does not refer to them as videos, and your iPhone will not save as such. Live Photos are excellent for visual platforms like Tumblr. At present, the blogging platform is the home of all forms of GIF, memes, and videos.

Only for iOS
Users of Tumblr can add to their publications Photos Live the same way they would with any other photo - once posted, they will carry a special icon in users' feeds. A Live Photo can be viewed (and heard) on a 6s iPhone using 3D Touch technology (by pressing harder on the screen), and users of older models of iPhone can also view the images by pressing and maintaining. Currently, Live Pictures will be displayed only as images on Android devices and the Web.

Tumblr was bought by Yahoo for $ 1.1 billion in 2013. Currently, Tumblr contains more than 267 million blogs, and transits average 58.3 million users messages per day.
