But it appears that if the new iPad 9.7-inch Pro is not only smaller and cheaper than the version of 12.9 inches, it is also less powerful.
On the one hand, while the two tablets have Apple A9X processors, Matthew Panzarino, editor at TechCrunch, has achieved a benchmark Geekbench on each shelf and discovered that the iPad Pro with a 9.7-inch screen has a processor with a clock speed of 2.16 GHz, while the larger model is clocked at 2.24 GHz. In other words, although the chip is identical Apple seems to have slowed the pace of it, certainly to stay with decent battery life.
On the other hand, the 12.9-inch model has 4 GB of memory (RAM), while the smaller version has just 2 GB of RAM.
Visible results on Geekbench
Although this may go unnoticed for many consumers, know that it could affect the multitasking performance, especially using the built-in screen sharing feature in recent versions of iOS. And the combined effect of slower processor and a reduced amount of RAM provides different scores in the benchmarks .
Panzarino shared images showing that the 12.9-inch model gets a score of 3231 on Geekbench point single-heart, and 5482 points multicore, while the iPad 9.7 inch Pro has achieved scores of 3022 and 5107 points for the same tests.
On the other hand, the smaller iPad Pro has a starting price of 200 euros less than the version 12.9 inches.
