While HDTV manufacturers have recently begun to 4K resolution, Japan is
already testing the 8K (16 times more pixels than Full HD).
Japanese channel NHK TV broadcasting programs tested with a Hi-Vision
definition, which is the standard 8K.
In his test, NHK broadcast by radio waves video signal uncompressed Super
Hi-Vision to a receiver located 27 miles from the transmitter. This is a
channel of the UHF band has been used.
These tests of digital terrestrial television in high resolution proved
successful. The researchers used the OFDM to achieve (it is also used for 4G
LTE) and MIMO (which uses multiple antennas).
Memory, Full HD is a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels or 2,073,600 pixels,
whereas 4K multiplies by 4 the number of pixels. 4K, the definition is
indeed 3840 by 2160 pixels or 8,294,400 pixels.
8K is a definition of 7680 by 4320 pixels, 33,177,600 pixels. It is
4 times more pixels than the 4K and 16 times more than the current
1080p/Full HD.
We know that the HEVC codec that will be used for 4K is twice as
effective as stroke (used for 1080p).
But the equivalent of a broadcast image 31.64 MB per second remains a
sacred challenge. Especially in parallel, the sound was transmitted 22.2
multichannel.
Manufacturers have shown many 4K HDTV last CES in Las Vegas.
But it will take several years for them to democratize the more
we are still waiting the content and Blu-Ray capable of storing 100 GB
The 8K seems she still distant despite these successful tests.
