Wikipedia is now interested in the voice of the greatest personalities of our world

The famous online encyclopedia is now heavily loaded with voice recording, at

least for some of its records.

No offense to his detractors, the Wikipedia is now one of the world's most

popular services. Each month, it receives more than half a billion unique

visitors and currently occupies the sixth place on the podium at Alexa,

accelerated by a short head by Baidu, Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook and Google.

Needless to say it is the latter which is in first place.

n recent months, the encyclopedia has worked extensively on his publisher

simplifying the interface and by a new special mode allowing contributors to

back up their items as drafts . Now she tackles records of the greatest

personalities of the world, forms it has every intention to enrich based on a

new program: Wikipedia Voice Intro Project or Wikipedia VIP for intimate.

Developed by Andy Mabbett, it simply aims to integrate the plug

some figures ... a sample of their voice. Amazing, that's for sure, but the

project is far more ambitious than it seems at first, since these samples are

recorded directly from the people involved.

At least in most cases. Wikipedia actually decided to partner with the BBC to

recover extracts from interviews of the most difficult to contact individuals,

including those who have disappeared from the face of the planet. If

contributors wish, they may well join the movement and to meet persons of

their choice to make their contribution to the building.

At the moment, only the English version of the encyclopedia is concerned by

this new. You can also visit the page of Stephen John Fry or Tim Berners-Lee

to see how it looks.

Oh, and an index, though: the media player is down and to the right.
