Microsoft has chosen its new CEO Satya Nadella

On August 23, Steve Ballmer announced his future departure as CEO of Microsoft. The company was then given five months to find a successor.

It is the board of directors led by John Thompson and a seat which Bill Gates had this heavy task. Several "external candidates" were approached in order to inject new blood into society. This is the case of Stephen Elop (a former Microsoft however), CEO of Nokia Mobility, and more recently Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford.

Internally tracks were also investigated. It is precisely the current executive vice president of the division Cloud & Enterprise Microsoft that the Board of Directors of the Company has chosen.

Satya Nadella will thus become the third CEO of Microsoft . Just like Steve Ballmer, he made his career at Microsoft with over 20 years of box (exactly 22 years in the case of Satya Nadella). Aged 46, Satya Nadella was born in India before being naturalized American.

Steve Ballmer will remain on the board (as he announced he would be leaving Microsoft).

It offers training in computer engineering culminating in a Master of Science and a MBA from the University of Chicago.

Hailed for his work with Office 365, Satya Nadella will work hard to bring up Microsoft Google and Apple. For it is indeed impose solutions and ecosystem at the time of the transition to a post-PC era.

A challenge that Steve Ballmer has failed to accomplish. He leaves still having a solid foundation for Microsoft to sit a leadership position in the era of mobility. Windows Phone is gaining market share (especially in the entry level), while Windows 8 continues to grow.
