Toro-bot, a lively garden lamp which has its own 'personality'
View Toro-Bot, a small robot-lantern able to move in your garden regularly to modify aesthetics.
And if the garden was ... tomorrow robotics? And if, instead of tiring you move plants to sting you hands, you damage the knees ... everything was done automatically to ensure an aesthetic quality that can change regularly? Friends of Nature, rest assured, this robotic era has not yet arrived. However, it seems that it comes close gradually as we exemplified Toro-bots. What? Japanese style lamps mounted on robots fours manufacturer Trossen Robotics.
Lamps Strong 'Personality'
Not only do these animated candles are able to move, but they have their own 'personality'. For example, the Toro-bots are equipped with an infrared rangefinder which permits them to detect the presence of other elements, other people. Each of these robots can choose to flee and hide when he sees someone or, conversely, to follow. It is however possible to give orders to machines that are connected to a central system via XBee. System which in turn is connected to your iPad where you can take control.
Another detail, each lantern has a small infrared signal flashing on its top. A camera that observe your garden will be able to recognize these signals and can thus locate the Toro-Bots. This spatial positioning still provides more information on the ambient environment and, by extension, more complex behaviors.
The Garden of Tomorrow
Toro-Bots are, at base, an aesthetic initiative that is supposed to allow you to see your garden change with minimal effort. When looking at the video (below), we realize that moving lanterns is quite noisy and has nothing very zen. However, the attitudes of the robots are quite touching, it seems to deal with small animals. Who knows if the next is not placing the plants on synthetic legs so that your entire garden can move?
