Whole problem of Android devices only 1.8% are under Kit Kat 4.4

While the new version of Android (Kit Kat) was introduced in October 2013 only 1.8% of terminals are under it.

In its latest report on the fragmentation of the Android system, Google says that at present only 1.8% of active Android devices are in the latest version (Kit Kat 4.4). Jelly Bean 4.3 has a share of 60.7 and 2.3 Gingerbread, a 20% share.

Unlike iOS, Android is more open open-source system, which allows the user to have more control over the device. For example, no need to make a "jailbreak" to install. Apk file when an application is not on the Play Store or when it is not available in your country. But unlike iOS, Android is a real jungle.

It is used by an unknown (but very high) manufacturers. Each manufacturer can make their own customizations and implement his overcoat. So when comes the new version of the operating system (announced by Google), all compatible smartphones and tablets do not benefit immediately.

The delay is sometimes very, very long (if ever). Sometimes we believe that manufacturers use this "loophole" to create new business assets. For example, when Samsung released the Galaxy Note 3, it was one of the first smartphones to be under the operating system Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. And new tablets from Samsung will also be among the first to use the Kit Kat version of Android.

The process is slow because each manufacturer must develop its own updated version. After the development is completed, there deployment. And it is not always won. Indeed, the update on your device depend on its version, your country and your operator (if the device was not purchased nu). Suffice to say that no one knows when it will benefit from improvements made by Google in this new version of Android. We talk about some optimizations of the interface but also better performance on the benchmark.

Eager and knowledgeable enough users have already found the official ROM to install Kit Kat manually. But it is at the risk and peril of the user, especially with Odin software.

If we believe what the media reports, most of these 1.8% of Android devices in Kit Kat 4.4 devices are the Nexus range of Google, Motorola and a handful of Samsung phones and HTC already receiving the updated in some countries and for some operators.
