Twitter is now banned in Turkey, but it is still possible to access the service

The Turkish government has decided to ban Twitter. The official reason? "Security of the country"! But it seems that this prohibition is rather intended to protect the Prime Minister, splashed by a corruption scandal ...

After uttering threats against YouTube and Facebook earlier this month, the Turkish government decided to tackle Twitter. However, it is this time more threats since the night of Thursday, March 20, the social network has gradually become unavailable in the country. The government has asked all ISPs in the country to restrict access to the site and redirecting users to the regulator of telecommunications in the country. Officially, Twitter has been banned for reasons of "security." But the real version is quite different.

Corruption case

Indeed, the ban follows the publication of audio recordings on Twitter. Therein, means the country's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the heart of a corruption scandal. Man has therefore preferred to use his powers, aided by his government, simply remove the discomfort that could bring her Twitter. He directs Turkey since 2002 and is involved in a corruption scandal that erupted in mid-December. Following the publication of incriminating documents on Twitter, the man had threatened to remove the social network, it is now taken action.

Circumvent the prohibition

This choice is obviously very critical, whether in Turkey or elsewhere. But the Prime Minister, who invokes the "  security of his country ", said:"  I do not care what the international community can say ". There are, for the moment, a way around the ban access via the SMS service Twitter. The Avea and Vodafone customers can send an SMS START to 2444 and those of Turkcell in 2555. So they can continue to speak on the social network, at least ... until it also means is blocked! The ironic parenthesis of this story comes to us from President Abdullah Gül said that a "total blockage of social networks" ... on his Twitter account!
