Spotify passes the 10 million paying subscribers

Spotify announced it has surpassed the 10 million paying subscribers and celebrates the event with an infographic distilling figures quite impressive.

Spotify now boasts 10 million paying subscribers and more than 40 million active users in 56 countries.

There is a year and a half, the music streaming service had "only" 5 million paying subscribers then it took 4 years to reach this figure.

Competition is fierce, however with more and more players to get involved in the arena even though some also threw in the towel (with Twitter Twitter Music for example).

Thus, Rdio announced 6 million paying subscribers in 2013 and Deezer, 5000000 (also in 2013).

Other competitors to take seriously also appeared in a market already almost saturated. It is believed that of course Beats (available only in the United States for the time) called Beats Music .

To greet the event, the Swedish company has released an infographic.

One finds that 1.5 billion playlists have been created since the launch of Spotify. Stronger still, 5000000 playlists are either updated or created each day.

Still, despite that Spotify has trouble finding a business model ensuring balanced her income.

70% of its revenues are directly used to pay beneficiaries. And despite a turnover of 435 million euros in 2012, the group lost 58.7 million euros this year.
