A Samsung foldable tablet that turns into smartphone for 2015

Samsung may soon expand the definition of a device 2-in-1 . Spotted by SamMobile and relayed by Fred, a new patent of the company shows a tablet that can be folded to become a smartphone . According to a news site on South Korean Daum , the tablet should have a Full HD OLED screen eight to nine inches, can be folded twice to convert into a real smartphone.

Based on illustrations of the machine, it seems to have three different screens that can be folded to provide a decent sized tablet. The process can obviously be reversed to change the device to a smartphone. According to the patent, turn the camera into a smartphone requires the same action as fold trifold wallet.

The new patent can be correlated with the recent Samsung breakthrough in the field of graphene, which is presented as a miracle material that makes it really flexible mobile devices. Graphene is a durable, ultra-thin, and has a high thermal conductivity. It offers a higher electron mobility than silicon - 100 times greater, making it possible to replace one of the most used in semiconductor materials.

Last April, Samsung has announced that it has discovered a new way to transform large areas of graphene in a single crystal of a semiconductor, which has the advantage of preserving all properties of the material. This new method allows to accelerate the commercialization of the material. A month later, Samsung announced the development of a new transistor structure for graphene. With these discoveries, the company claims to have solved the main problems encountered by manufacturers who want to replace the silicon graphene in semiconductors, describing the discovery as "a revolutionary method to commercialize a new material for the electronics" .

There is no official word on whether this new hybrid genre tablet / smartphone is actually developing. However, Daum predicted that the first folding tablet Samsung could be launched in 2015 .
