Apple and Google are now in competition, it is a fact, but the two giants have long gone hand in hand. The first iPhones were and all come with Google Maps.

However, everything has changed with the advent of iOS 6, and with the arrival on the market of Plans, an identical solution developed internally by the bitten apple. Afterwards, everybody knows.

Google is now "persona non grata" on the side of Cupertino, at least in some cases

As strange as it may seem, Apple still using the Google Maps API in some of its applications, especially in the service Find My Phone . This week, the company decided to backtrack and turn their back on this platform to benefit plans.

The deployment is not yet fully effective at the time of this writing, but it is only a matter of days or perhaps weeks, before this update lands at all our accounts.

In itself, this decision is not very surprising. Apple has no interest to highlight the services of its competitor. Even less if he can avoid it, which is not always easy. Proof is, Google is still present in the search engines proposed by Safari.

For now, anyway.

The firm is actually more interested in alternatives. OS X 10.10 Yosemite, she even decided to roll out the red carpet to a DuckDuckGo .

And finally, this is what could eventually upset the balance of power. Google now reign with an iron hand on the area of research, of course, but iOS still holds a little over 15% market share worldwide , representing tens of millions of users.
