But Android Auto applications are not truly autonomous apps. Instead, they are dedicated to smartphones and tablets that have an automatic component. When you install applications on your smartphone, your system will recognize the vehicle and add functionality to your dashboard Android Auto.

This way, you can receive notifications, control playback of music, or use voice actions in the car. In other words, Android Auto is a bit like the mobile platform from Google. Wear Like Android, you install applications by installing them from your Android smartphone .

There is another similarity between Android and Android Wear Auto: Google maintains tight control over the user interface. The manufacturers will not be allowed to use custom overlays. In fact, Android Auto will be even more locked.

Most applications will have huge similarities . The developer can choose custom colors and each application must have a day mode or night mode. But they will all have essentially the same user interface and layout.

At its launch , there will be only a few third party applications that work with Android Auto: applications that can display the appropriate notifications to the format of the automobile and media player applications. The latter will all simple command bar, although some applications may have custom buttons, including thumbs up or down or buttons to bookmarks.

Android application developers have much more flexibility in custom applications for smartphone and tablet user interface design. But it makes sense that Google insists on a more unified design language for the systems in the car. The goal is to help builders.

Indeed, it is unimaginable that drivers are distracted by a sloppy and incomprehensible interface.
