BlackBerry and smartwatch: a complex story

BlackBerry could he one day reveal a competitor for the iWatch?

Lately you may have heard about a project that BlackBerry is currently working on "wearable", the English term that encompasses smartwatch and all that is "wearable computer" .

In fact, this rumor is partly due to a Computerworld article. According to it, the president of BlackBerry enterprise solutions John Sims (not John Chen) revealed during an event in Las Vegas that the Canadian firm "is currently conducting research on various wearables" , adding that "... would like to have BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) on a wearable" .

Since the article appeared just after the presentation of the Apple iWatch, some fans of the Canadian brand immediately thought (hoped) that intends to develop its own BlackBerry smartwatch.

Unfortunately, the statements of John Sims is not yet possible to draw this conclusion. However, they can lead us to think that BlackBerry is planning to develop a BBM app for Apple and those using Android smartwatch Wear.

Remember also that by the beginning of the year, while BlackBerry unveiled the BlackBerry Z3 (an entry-level mobile), its CEO John Chen declared to reporters that "wearable devices" were not part of the plans short-term Canadian firm.

Thus, it is currently unclear whether a BlackBerry smartwatch be unveiled (with physical keyboard?). But anyway, I think it has the means at the R & D.
