Windows 10 the gesture similar to OS X

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, if this quote from Charles Caleb Colton is true, Apple should be extremely proud today. Indeed, Microsoft has decided to rely on key features of OS X for Windows 10 , and in several areas.

The next preview version of Windows 10 include better support for all users who use multiple screens on one machine, and should provide support for new gestures performed on the touch pad of your device , allowing you to minimize or switch applications through them.

It is silent this case Joe Belfiore, vice president in charge of the design of Windows, has unveiled a preview of the 9865 build of Windows 10 at the Microsoft TechEd Europe 2014 in Barcelona.

Some of these new features are related to the touchpad:

  • Scan three fingers down to minimize all applications
  • 3 fingers swipe up to bring up applications that have been reduced
  • Swipe 3 fingers left or right to switch between applications running
  • Scan three fingers up to access the Task View and have seen applications running.

If this sounds familiar gesture, it may be that you have recently used a Mac. Apple also uses similar gestures to access or Mission Control to switch between full screen apps. Of course, there is nothing wrong with finding inspiration in the work of your rivals, all while it helps to make your product better and you do not completely steal the source code.

This is obviously not the case with Windows 10, which is a single operating system. In addition, Apple has borrowed features of Microsoft in the past, so this could be the backlash from the Redmond company.

Historically, Microsoft has left manufacturers responsible trackpad as Synaptics and Elantech, implement support for gestures. But today, most new touchpads feature support for multi-gesture. It is therefore logical that Microsoft wants to offer something native.

Although still under development, the successor of Windows 8 was unveiled last month and will be in the hands of the general public next year . In the meantime, everyone can test the beta program by enrolling in Windows Insider , and downloading the Technical Preview.
