When looking at the latest trends on the Web, the question becomes legitimate. There are now five days, a Chinese artist named Ai Weiwei decided to publish a photo on his Instagram account. Proudly with his hat, shorts and socks, there holds his leg like a gun. This posture rather silly if we omit the symbol immediately gained a name:-gun leg or leg-gun. It does not take much for some users go crazy and jump on this new "  trend ".



Since the original publication, the account Instagram Ai Weiwei republished numerous shots of people taking up the leg-gun posture. The number of images posted and the diversity of people posted to suggest that this is not the artist himself who took these photos to supply any buzz. The most used hashtag seems endgunviolence.

What is the meaning, basically, this gesture? Hard to say, since the artist himself refuses to give a precise answer letting users make their own interpretations. Nonetheless it can be noted that the original leg-gun was preceded by a picture of Chinese dancers adopting this posture. The photo is from the movie Red Detachment of Women in which a group of women involved in the civil war against the Kuomintang, the ruling party in the 30 One can see a roundabout way of calling for non-violent demonstration against the Chinese government. Using his leg as a gun, not a real gun.

Of course, many of the people who have taken up the leg-gun have done this only because they were amusing posture.
