SmartWatch has a Bright Future

CES 2015 has confirmed, connected objects have the wind in their sails. Phase of democratization, they moved slowly on the wrist of users. Why the wrist? Because a model actually seems more relevant than others, it is the connected watch.

123 million wearable devices should invade the lives of users worldwide in 2018. This figure has been advanced by IDATE as part of a study on the future of connected objects. It concerns including all currently known wearables: sunglasses, watches and jewelry bracelets but also more generally.


Market growth is now estimated at 70% per year. At the expense of connected bracelets (limited to activity trackers applications), watches offer multiple features and some stand-alone models suggest ever wider uses. Thus, IDATE estimates that smartwatch represent 65% of the growing market of connected objects in 2018.

To see if the Apple Watch, long awaited by some, particularly hangs in the balance. Other products carried by LG or Motorola currently deserve just as much media coverage given their many qualities.

The watch, a non-intrusive device

Despite the setbacks experienced by Google recently and the announcement of the end of commercialization of his glasses connected, the market seems ready to welcome new connected devices that alternative forms compared to current smartphones and tablets. Connected watches, easier to carry and with already many models of all shapes, seem best positioned to integrate daily increasingly open to new technologies consumers.
