In 2014, one billion Android smartphones were sold worldwide

We talk mostly excellent results of Apple. Yet the Android side of the force ...

As Thomas explained to us a few days ago , the Cupertino company has just completed the best quarter in its history. But for Android, 2014 was also a good year, or at least, if one thinks in terms of market share and if we are to believe a recent report from the firm Strategy Analytics.

According to this, smartphone sales grew 30% from 2013 to reach the number of 1.3 billion elapsed devices. And also 81% of smartphones sold in 2014, more than one billion units, were Android devices (against 0.8 billion in 2013).

Thus, in 2014, the Android operating system has a market share of 81%. For iOS, this share is 15%. In contrast, companies that sell mobile Android do not realize as much profit as Apple, with its iPhone.

The other threat to Google, it is the so-called OS "Android Fork". Microsoft, the Nokia partner (before the acquisition) has already developed a Fork of Android for Nokia X (where Google services are being replaced by Microsoft services) have decided to invest on a very popular fork called Cyanogen . As for OnePlus, it will launch an OS called OxygenOS (also based on Android) for OnePlus One.

And as you know, the famous Xiaomi manufacturer does not use the version of Google but a customized version called MIUI, with a store of apps that already a lot of money to the company. By 2015, Android fork could well gain ground.
