Most of us (I dare say almost everyone) see a smartphone as a mobile computer, small enough to fit in your pocket but large enough to view videos, movies, or write emails , talk to your friends, and many other daily actions.
On the other hand, smartwatches are nothing more than a watch that has a screen that plays notifications without having to remove your smartphone from your pocket and stuff like that.
Well, Neptune thinks otherwise. The company believes this is the watches that should be "smarter" than smartphones . They built the Neptune Duo. This is a duet in which the smartwatch plays the role of the brain, and the smartphone is basically nothing more than a screen , able to do a thing or two.
I think it's a very interesting concept, and that could prove revolutionary. The screen and processor are the two biggest energy consumers in the device, and if you separate the two devices, you might get a subtle blend of technology where the battery can last for a few days while being still as powerful as any device, but an absent energy screen.
The remarkable thing about this device is its quad processor, its 64 GB of internal storage, its 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-fi, the NFC chip, Bluetooth and a series of sensors hidden behind its 2.4 inch capacitive screen. The smartphone has meanwhile a 5-inch screen with a 720p resolution, an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2 megapixel front camera, and a battery of 2800 mA. Officials say the Duo can last "several days" to "normal use" on a single charge.
The devices cost 798 dollars . Note that a crowdfunding is possible to pre-order at a lower price while being aware that "money is pledged a donation for a work in progress and is not a direct purchase."
