TVs have a screen size between 40 and 65 inches, and the high-end models will highlight something called 4K Panasonic Pro, which is the technology that the company provides for better color accuracy.
While this may help new Panasonic TVs stand out from the competition, the platform based on Firefox OS is definitely something you will not find on other TVs in the near future.
For those unaware, Firefox OS is an operating system designed around the Firefox web browser. It was originally developed by Mozilla for smartphones and tablets, but Panasonic uses it as the basis for its Smart TV platform, it appoints Home Screen 2.0.
The user interface does not look anything like what you would see on a Firefox OS smartphone. Instead, there is a series of "packages" dedicated to devices, applications and devices. It will automatically display the contents of the hardware you connect via USB or HDMI.
You can customize your home screen by pinning applications and content to access it easily, use a search tool to locate content from different sources, and access to Internet content from sources through App Store. The people at Expert Reviews took one of the new Panasonic TVs for a quick test, and found that a number of applications are already available, the platform seemed pretty responsive, and most of the time, the user interface is simple and easy to use.
As one is entitled to expect from a TV running Firefox OS, you can use the Firefox web browser to surf the web on the new Panasonic TVs. The manufacturer says you can also send content to their TVs using any smartphone, tablet or PC with the Firefox web browser or other compatible application installed.
Firefox OS and Home Screen 2.0 will be included for the entire range of 4K TVs in 2015, including the TV series CX850, CX800, CX750, CR730, CX700 and CX860. Prices and launch dates have not yet been announced.
