Facebook is experimenting his own phone application

Facebook did not hesitate to release derived applications to enrich its collection of features: Home, Rooms, Groups, and of course Slingshot Messenger. Some have been real failures, others still managed to win. Anyway, it seems that the blue giant is another in the pipes.
A couple of Facebook users on Android noticed links to what appears to be a Facebook application that would make calls, named suitably, Phone.

Android Police relayed information with screenshots that could present future plans of the Facebook application. According to the information captured, "Phone is a new application that shows you more about the caller and automatically blocks calls frequently blocked numbers" . Naturally, the information should include data retrieved from the vast social network.

As Facebook Home proves the company of Mark Zuckerberg did not scruple to seize your smartphone, and phone application could be used to replace the pre-installed by default on your smartphone (Android at least) . We have heard countless rumors of a smartphone developed by Facebook over the years, but perhaps that social giant just wants to dominate the smartphone you already have.

By tapping the Facebook Phone link, users are redirected to a blank page, suggesting that it is probably something that is internally being tested currently . In the absence of official confirmation from Facebook, there is not much we know about this next app - Facebook could even decide not to release it after all.

Facebook Messenger already includes capability to make calls, and the feature is about to be embarked on WhatsApp, owned by Facebook. A dedicated application could still go further than current offerings, and allow Facebook to have another piece of your smartphone.
