An application of Google recognizes handwriting on Android

You prefer to scribble notes in your own handwriting instead of strumming on a keyboard on the screen? Google has a new text input method that could be your ally: Google Handwriting is a new application for Android that allows you to scribble handwritten notes.

The free application, and available on the Google Play Store , admits writing the text by hand on your phone or tablet in 82 languages.

Once you have installed the application on a mobile device running Android 4.0 or higher, simply follow the instructions to install handwriting input as default keyboard on it. You can always show a normal keyboard by pressing the globe icon to switch to the traditional keyboard mode.

You can write with your finger, but I guess you will have better results with a stylus . It can be difficult to grasp a lot of text on the screen when you scribble notes with a finger. But with a stylus, everything seems more natural and accurate. You can also use the emoji by pressing the Enter key, and select an option in the suggestion bar, or draw your own.

I admit not being comfortable in writing, but despite that, the recognition of handwriting was no problem. However, for unusual words, such as "BlogNT", the result can be more random.

There is also a small cloud icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the keyboard. By clicking on it, you enable or disable online recognition, allowing Google to collect anonymous data to improve support handwriting.

These days, most of the smartphones and tablets leave the choice to the consumer if he wants a stylus or not. But this stylus has been abyss thanks to the popularity of the range Samsung Galaxy Note, and similar devices. So it is perhaps not surprising that Google offers handwriting recognition application. What is a bit surprising is how it seems to work perfectly, even without a stylus.
