Google deploys an update of its Android platform Wear , integrating with it new features for smartwatches currently on the market, while focusing on the future, to counter Apple, and Apple Watch.

One of the most important changes is support for Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to do more with your connected watch, even when your phone is not next to you.

The update also adds support for making the application still "active" , allowing applications to remain visible until you decide to make them disappear by not looking at the dial. So, when you go down your arms, the screen will always standby, but the application will switch to black and white to save the battery. However, always having the active application means you will not have to open several times the same application to navigate the street for example.

As for support Wi-Fi connectivity, until recently Wear Android devices can connect to the Internet by pairing with your smartphone via Bluetooth connectivity and using the Internet connection on your smartphone. Now that the watches can connect without your smartphone or nearby, that means you can send messages, view notifications, and interact with other applications that require an Internet connection when your smartphone is not within range hand.

How do you know if your watch has a Wi-Fi chip? It turns out many Android models existing Wear, such as Moto 360, already has such embedded chip. It will be activated only after the software update is deployed.

If you are a fan of connectivity, this addition means that Android Wear now supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS . There remains only the development team to add support for cellular data, you might not need a smartphone.

Emoji galore
There are a few more changes in the latest Android update Wear, including support for new gestures "flick your wrist" , which allows you to scroll through notifications without touching the screen, faster access to your contacts, and there emoji support to watch on screen.
You can reply to messages by drawing emoji, the watch will try to translate at best. But in case you are in a hurry, and the fast writing does not give the expected result, there is a 25 Popular emoji list that you can use.

The update is launched from today, and will be deployed to all the watches in the coming months. The owners of the LG Watch Urbane will be the first to benefit.
