Before you resell your smartphone, you hand it to factory state. But this is not enough.

There a few months we were discussing already an experience conducted by Avast. The company's researchers bought used phones and although these have been handed over by their former owners to factory state data, including very embarrassing photos, were recovered.

Another study, conducted by researchers from the University of Cambridge and published recently, even revealed a method that will allow such access to Google or Facebook accounts of the former owners.

In essence, resell mobile Android to which we have applied a simple reset to factory condition can lead to embarrassing situations or even catastrophic , especially if it falls not into the hands of (nice ) researchers, but hackers villains.

But then, do we not sell its smartphone? As claimed by our colleague from The Verge, here is the precaution that is recommended by Adrian Ludwig, lead engineer in charge of Android security:

"If you plan to resell or throw your device and you have not yet done so, encrypt it, and then perform the reset to factory state."

Indeed, although few people use this feature, recent versions of Android used to encrypt the information stored in the memory.

The advantage is that if a hacker tries to retrieve information on the disk from your old phone, it will a priori encrypted and unusable information.

And to prevent encryption, is too easy to circumvent through brute force, use of complicated words assists.
