iPhone 6S: a 12 megapixel sensor with RGBW technology

Apple was stuck with 8 megapixel cameras embedded on the back cover since the launch of the iPhone 4S, released in 2011. But it seems that this will change with the iPhone 6S , as many rumors now point to an 12 megapixel sensor.

The latest information comes from Feng.com , citing Japanese media, who claim that the iPhone 6S will have a 12 megapixel camera manufactured by Sony . And what is interesting is that it will use the RGBW technology of the company, rather than using the more traditional RGB technology.

The "W" at the end refers to a white sub-pixel that helps achieve greater low-light performance . And according to the publication, this is what Apple was waiting to drop the 8 megapixel sensor.

A technology that is long overdue
Apparently, the company originally intended to use the RGBW technology in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but has spent the past year testing it to ensure quality implementation.

It makes sense that Apple is looking for a way to improve conditions in low light the cameras before climbing the number of megapixels. Indeed, the current 8 megapixel sensor uses fairly large pixels that allow much more light, and that Apple probably did not want to negatively impact its performance.

The publication also mentions that the camera of the next iPhone will have a faster autofocus , but it does not specify how. Obviously it is important to take this information with tweezers, but with so many rumors pointing to a 12 megapixel sensor, it seems likely that this really happen in the next installment. Apple has waited so long to do it.

The numerous speculations report that the iPhone 6S will likely use the A9 chip, a screen that supports touch technology Force, the system seen on the Apple Watch which allows the user to press and hold or slightly more on screen to launch different features.
