As Hero4 Silver, the HERO + LCD has a touch screen on the back that lets you frame your image and access various controls handy for various tasks like editing short video clips. The novelty in this entry-level model is the HiLight Tagging feature, which allows you to identify favorite moments during recording. So you can easily review them later, during the post-editing.
Like HERO The HERO + LCD is embedded in a housing (not removable), which makes it waterproof to 40m, and resistant to shock it may encounter in the course of robust activities.
Video performance is a marked improvement over the base model HERO . The HERO + LCD is able to produce high definition videos e, Full HD 1080 at 60 frames per second (fps), against 30 fps for the Hero. And it can capture photos of 8 megapixels, 5 megapixels cons with HERO. However, it will not match the Hero4 Silver, which captures pictures of 12 megapixels (with a burst mode of 30 fps, against 5 fps for HERO + LCD) and records video in 720p at 120 fps in 1440p, 2K and even 4K. Note that you will not find the more advanced features of Silver, as Time Lapse and ProTUNE mode.
With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity , you can control the HERO + LCD remotely and recover short clips to share on social networks using a smartphone or tablet (iOS, Android and Windows Phone ).
Due to the LCD and wireless connectivity, camera autonomy will suffer if you activate both options. By filming at 1080p60, the battery life is estimated at 1 hour 45 minutes. All off, you have only two hours of battery life. Unfortunately, unlike Black and Silver models, knowing that the camera is embedded in a non-removable case, since the battery is discharged, you will need to either charge the battery or wired to an external battery to operate.
Does this new is for you? I think it's a little expensive when you can get the Silver Hero4 model for only 100 euros more than the HERO + LCD . With Hero4 Silver, you not only get the LCD screen and Wi-fi and Bluetooth, but you have much better performance. To you make your choice.
