Here's why Xiaomi considering selling devices without chargers

What would be the point?

What a funny idea. Xiaomi could soon sell electronic products without including chargers in the packaging.

What comes naturally in mind, is that the Chinese company, known for its methods to minimize costs and sell its products cheaper, there has still found a stingy technique.

But according to CEO Lei Jun, it would not really cost issue but an environmental concern. The idea is that since we already have chargers our old devices, we can use the new and so it would be useless (waste) to a new charger in each package. For those who do not own (but unlikely), Xiaomi could propose to sell a charger separately for nearly two euros.

However, it should be noted that if the chargers meet the standards that make you can for example load a Xiaomi smartphone with the charger that came with HTC, the quality of the unit's load can vary from one charger to another.

Indeed, if you have for example a smartphone with a Snapdragon SoC, which features the characteristic Quick Charge 2.0 , you can not take advantage of the accelerated loading (75% faster) with a lambda charger. In essence, the CEO of Xiaomi has not quite right because sometimes it can be more advantageous to use the original charger.
