Linux fans? Rejoice, Fedora 22 is finally here!

The number of active Linux distributions today is a real issue. While some argue that more choice is a good thing, I must express my disagreement in this respect. This can overwhelm people who are curious to get their hands on Linux, forcing them to abandon their open source journey before it starts.

Frankly, beginners should target two distributions: Ubuntu and Fedora. The first is the easiest and most accessible of the two, but the second is probably the best in learning. Today, after a long wait, the version of Fedora 22 is now available to the general public.

The team explains that behind Fedora distribution offers new features for developers and desktop users with editing Fedora 22 Workstation, focusing on improvements to the user interface and applications. Bug notifications, serious or not, allow users to be better informed, while remaining less intrusive. In addition, the GNOME desktop themes have been redesigned to improve usability without distracting the content of the main window.
Several improvements on OS applications have also been included with Fedora 22 Workstation, such as Software application, which now simplifies the search for open source applications.

A new version but ...
With this release, the operating system has not been radically redesigned . Indeed, the ideology of free software is intact, and remains the default GNOME desktop environment. For many users working on a desktop computer, it will be as usual with updated packages.

I am happy to say that the version 22 come with the Linux Kernel 4.0 , which makes it very modern. The Anaconda installer has been updated with new animations and visualizations, but unfortunately it has not changed dramatically.

The major difference with Fedora 22 is the new package manager, named DNF. This evolution of YUM will certainly take a little practice, which can disrupt some Fedora users long. That said, sometimes you need to make these changes to look to the future.

If you are new to Linux, or curious to try a new operating system, Fedora is an excellent choice. If you want to try the operating system that Linus Torvalds - the father of Linux - itself uses, you can download Fedora 22 from this link.
