The current iteration of SmartBand Sony has been designed to be simple, so that the firm is able to learn the market and bring some competition to the existing players. It is waterproof, rather quiet and it uses an E Ink screen, making it an excellent choice summer days under a hot sun.
However, for those who expect a connected oriented bracelet on the Tracking the activity, it is a bit of a disappointment, lacking a heart rate monitor and altimeter.

According to the description of the new application, which was eventually withdrawn (but still visible in the cache ), the SmartBand 2 will add some of these features well-desired activities. We'll find notably the inclusion of a heart rate sensor, and application will have workouts . Android Police has downloaded the application before it is removed and shared some screenshots of what we can expect from it.

The SmartBand 2 should do the same things that your first SmartBand as alerting you of incoming messages, provide a tracking your steps and analyze your sleep. Interestingly, it seems that you will also be able to press a button and take a snapshot of all the data that has the bracelet at some time, to help you keep an eye on the important moments of your day. There is also a smart alarm mode which will help to wake you up gently, rather than wake up abruptly.

The application also states that the SmartBand 2 is optimized for Xperia devices, and that "the functionality may not be optimal when using the 2 SmartBand with other smartphones" .

Obviously this exit to the Google application store is not an official announcement, and no one knows when the new SmartBand 2 will be ready to get on the wrist, or at what price. But since Sony completed the application that comes with it, it's a matter of days or weeks before you see it happen.
