WWDC 2015: Apple Watch will provide support to third-party applications

Apple releases a major update of the operating system dedicated to Apple Watch, WatchOS 2 . This will add support for new watch faces (dials, French) designed from photos, album pictures , pictures or even timelapses. There is also a new night mode that will essentially divert the watch in a digital clock when it is supported on your bedside table at night.

But the biggest change is the support for native applications in WatchOS 2. This will allow developers to design things like push sports scores, flight schedules or other information directly on watch faces , or create new types of applications that are not currently available for the first shows connected Apple.

Currently, when a developer creates an application for the Apple Watch using the first generation of WatchKit, what they actually do is to create applications that run on iPhone and interact with the watch . Native applications will run entirely on the watch itself, and even when your smartphone is not nearby. This allows them to connect to known Wi-Fi networks.
Access to the features of the Apple Watch
Apple says that developers can now access features of the watch which were not available so far. This means that monitoring applications will be able to use the microphone or the speaker of the Apple Watch, video display, audio playback through the speaker or Bluetooth connectivity. They can access the accelerometer, or HomeKit HealthKit.

Moreover, developers can also use the digital crown on the watch connected to allow users to do things like set the thermostat temperature by manipulating the crown.
WatchOS 2 also adds support for:

  • Facetime Audio
  • Easy to add friends
  • Start a workout with Siri
  • Navigation route from an iOS device 9
Beta 2 WatchOS for developers is available from today and will be available as a free update for all users of Apple Watch this fall.
