But Odlanor virus (Win32 / Spy.Odlanor) would target online poker players and its main goal is not to steal passwords or credit cards numbers, but to reveal to hackers cards of those players for their parts.
As explained by ESET, like other viruses, it installs on computers targets through programs downloaded from unofficial sources, which are usually related to poker.
According to ESET, two online poker sites are targeted by the virus Odlanor: PokerStars and Tilt Poker.
The virus allows hackers to know if an infected player is connected to one of these sites. It also allows them to know the ID of the player.
Subsequently, hackers need only to find this identifier in the online poker site (a feature offered by the two sites mentioned above) and join the same table to play against the target.
But they have a big advantage: they know the player's cards through screen sent by the Trojan horse captures.
Moreover, more "common" features have been added to a new version of the virus, which also allows him to steal information such as passwords.
According to the researchers, many victims have already been identified in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. But "nevertheless, the Trojan is a potential threat for any online poker player."
